Medford is located in the heart of
southern Oregon’s beautiful Rogue River Valley,
just 27 miles north of the California-Oregon border
and located on Interstate 5. It is the largest city
in southern Oregon and the seat of Jackson County
government. Medford's natural beauty includes the
green hills that surround the town along with the
spring bloom of the many pear orchards and wild flowers
in the area.
The area is thriving with a growing population of
more than 80,000 residents. The medical facilities
are expanding, major businesses are moving into the
area, the revitalization of downtown Medford is underway,
tourism is increasing and there are abundant recreational
opportunities. The Rogue Valley International-Medford
Airport is expanding and provides air service on
several airlines. However, even as Medford grows
it is still proud of its “small town” lifestyle. |
The overall climate of
Medford is mild with four distinct seasons. The average
rainfall is approximately 19 inches per year. The
elevation is 1380 feet above sea level and the humidity
in the area is low.
Many people move to Medford because of its central
location in relation to other northwest destinations.
Portland is 273 miles to the north, San Francisco
is 373 miles to the south, and the Pacific Ocean
is only 118 miles to the west. Other people move
to Medford because Oregon is one of only two states
that do not have a sales tax! |
